Byee.

The Erik Karlsson saga in Ottawa has finally come to an end, as the Senators agreed to trade the defenseman to the San Jose Sharks on Thursday afternoon.

In exchange Karlsson and Francis Perron, the Sharks will send a first round pick in 2020, a second round pick in 2019, Chris Tierney, Dylan DeMelo, Josh Norris and Rudolfs Balcers to Ottawa in the deal. There are also two conditional picks involved in the deal.

If the Sharks sign Karlsson to a contract extension, the Senators will receive a second round pick in 2021. That pick will be upgraded to a first round selection if the Sharks reach the Stanley Cup Final this season. If the Sharks flip Karlsson to an Eastern Conference team during this upcoming season, the Senators will receive an additional first round pick from San Jose.

There have been trade rumors surrounding Karlsson since last season. With the 28-year-old defenseman heading into the final year of his current deal and little progress being made on an extension in Ottawa, where they're currently undergoing a rebuild, it was widely expected that the Senators would trade their captain and franchise defenseman before the start of the season.

Karlsson is a two-time Norris Trophy winner and a generational offensive talent on the blue line. Since he entered the NHL in 2009-10, no defenseman has scored more points than Karlsson. He has 518 (126 goals, 392 assists) points in 627 NHL games and has finished amongst the NHL's top-10 leading scorers twice.

He is coming off a tough season in which he may not have been fully healthy following offseason ankle surgery. He scored nine goals (his lowest full-season total) and added 53 assists for 62 points in 71 games.

Karlsson has spent his entire career with the Senators up to this point, having been drafted by Ottawa with the 15th overall pick in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. He led them to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2017 before losing to the Pittsburgh Penguins (the eventual Stanley Cup champs) in overtime of Game 7.

Things have unraveled in Ottawa both on and off the ice since then. The Senators finished near the bottom of the Eastern Conference last season and were plagued by multiple off-ice issues, including a cyberbullying scandal involving Karlsson and teammate Mike Hoffman. (Hoffman was also traded to San Jose this offseason before being flipped to the Florida Panthers.)

In San Jose, Karlsson will join a Sharks defensive corps that already includes Norris-winner Brent Burns. That likely means that the Sharks will either have Karlsson and/or Burns on the ice at most points during this season.

When you create a Blockchain wallet, we recommend completing three key security features.

Verify Your Email

Verifying your email address allows us to send login codes when suspicious or unusual activity is detected, to remind you of your wallet login ID, and to send bitcoin payment alerts when you receive funds.

Set up Two-Factor Authentication

Enable two-factor authentication via SMS code, Yubikey, or Google Authenticator to further protect your wallet from unauthorized access.

Write Down Your Backup Phrase

Your backup phrase is the most important of all security measures. It is the key to ensuring your access to your funds if you forget your password or Blockchain is unavailable.

Your Backup Phrase

The Failsafe

a) What Is It?

Your Backup Phrase, an encoded version of your wallet’s master seed, is a mnemonic passphrase made up of 12 random words. It acts as a backup, ensuring that you can always access your funds.

b) Why Do I Need It?

In the event that you lose your Wallet ID (or worse your password), your Backup Phrase is the only way you’ll be able to regain access to your funds. Reminder: we’re a non-custodial wallet which means we can’t reset your password.

c) Why Do I Have To Write It Down?

Anyone with your Backup Phrase can gain access to your funds and transaction history. To keep your funds protected from online hacks or accidental data loss, we recommend storing it offline - in a notebook or on a piece of paper.

d) Where Can I Find It?

You can find your Backup Phrase by navigating to the Security Center in your Wallet and selecting ‘Backup Phrase’.

The Bitcoin Network is the first successful implementation of blockchain technology.

The term "blockchain technology" typically refers to the transparent, trustless, publicly accessible ledger that allows us to securely transfer the ownership of units of value using public key encryption and proof of work methods.

The technology uses decentralized consensus to maintain the network, which means it is not centrally controlled by a bank, corporation, or government. In fact, the larger the network grows and becomes increasingly decentralized, the more secure it becomes.

The potential for blockchain technology is not limited to bitcoin. As such, it has gained a lot of attention in a variety of industries including: financial services, charities and nonprofits, the arts, and e-commerce.

To learn more about the inner-workings of the Bitcoin Network, check out this article.

A common area of confusion when talking about Bitcoin is the use of the uppercase “B” versus the lowercase “b.” What is the difference, and when do you use each one? In this post, we take a few minutes to explain what each of them represent, and how to use them.

Bitcoin (the protocol and payment network)

Bitcoin with a capital “B” is typically associated with Bitcoin the protocol and payment network. The uppercase form, “Bitcoin,” is also often used to refer to as the ecosystem as a whole. Using Bitcoin with a capital “B” is the common way of referencing Bitcoin when writing about it in general terms.

An example would be, “I just learned about Bitcoin, and it’s a fast and cheap way for merchants to accept payments.”

bitcoin (the currency)

Bitcoin with a lowercase “b” written as “bitcoin” is usually associated specifically with bitcoin as the currency. When you intend to reference how much of the currency was transacted, or you’re focusing solely on the currency and not the broader payment network or protocol as a whole, you can use the lowercase form, “bitcoin.”

An example would be, “I just sent two bitcoins from my Blockchain Wallet to the merchant.”

These are not hard and fast rules, but they can helpful when trying to avoid confusion. Whichever way you decide to write Bitcoin, making sure you provide adequate context is usually all you need to ensure you’re explaining yourself clearly. It becomes particularly significant to draw the distinction when writing about the technical aspects of Bitcoin, and when explaining the differences between the protocol and the currency like we did here.

What is Bitcoin?

Bitcoin can often refer to two things. First, the Bitcoin network that keeps track of our transactions and balances, and second, the currency that we use as the unit of value when we transact. We'll cover both here.

The Bitcoin Network

Bitcoin's payment network (also called the bitcoin blockchain) is what makes it possible for us to transact with one another. The network uses distributed consensus to verify and confirm transactions, and consensus is reached via a large global network of high-performance computers (called miners) running the bitcoin software.

Whenever someone sends a transaction it is broadcast instantly to the network and verified by the miners. Miners are constantly working to confirm individual transactions and include them in the next block of transactions in the chain. Once a new block is verified, all the transactions within it are permanently recorded on the blockchain. Rewards are paid out in bitcoin to miners who confirm transactions and verify the next block as a way to incentivize productivity on the network.

Each party who participates in the mining process has an identical up-to-date copy of the blockchain or public ledger, which is a record of all the transactions in bitcoin history. Each party's copy of the ledger is updated every time a new block is found.

The Currency

The unit of value that we send and receive on the Bitcoin network is also referred to as bitcoin, or bitcoins. Bitcoin is completely digital, meaning we can't physically hold it in our hand. It's also portable, divisible, fungible, and irreversible.

For further explanation on the difference between the Bitcoin network and the currency, check out this blog post.

Hello Readers!! Basically there are lots of Advertising methods in the internet for the website holders, While you can direct traffic that comes to your  website toward buying a product or service, some websites, particularly magazines and blogs, earn revenue other ways. One is to include advertising spots that promote other sites and services.

These spots can be banners, video, text links, or specific articles on your website, such as product reviews. When building your website, you have to consider how to earn revenue from your website or blog and the different types of advertisements that you can place within the website structure. With strategic planning, you can monetize your website, maximizing your profits.

Cost Per Click

In this revenue model, the user clicks an advertising text link or banner, such as an image, text, or video. The advertiser pays the website owner each time users click the mouse and visit the advertiser’s product or service website.

The Cost Per Click (CPC) varies based on many factors, such as the type of visitors coming to the website and website competitors. For example, you can set the cost of a banner click at thirty cents each time a visitor clicks this banner, the advertiser pays you this amount of money. This model does not include how the visitor interacts with the advertiser’s product or website; the payment process is complete once the user clicks the banner.

Usually, this model is suitable for websites of all sizes that would like to generate revenue from advertising. Visitors with the potential to click banners on your site have the potential to click other links on your site, which can lead to possible revenue. Ad providers such as Google AdSense, Yahoo Publisher Network, and Facebook handle the CPC campaigns for your website.

Cost Per Mille

The Cost Per Mille (CPM), or the cost per thousand, impressions model refers to the cost that an advertiser pays a website owner to display the advertiser’s banner on the website owner’s site to visitors a thousand times.

For example, an advertiser pays you to display his banner for a number of website users regardless of whether they click the banner or not; these displays are known as banner impressions. These impressions do not include actions such as refreshing the page from the user’s browser. Therefore, if you sell 1,000 impressions on your website for $2 and the advertiser buys 10,000 impressions, he will pay a total of $20 to you for displaying the banner to 10,000 of your website visitors.

CPM is most profitable if your website receives a lot of traffic or page views because you can sell large numbers of impressions to different advertisers, and use rotating ads methods to display multiple ads in the same advertising area. CPM ad providers include Facebook and BuySellAds that deliver advertising banners to your website.

Cost Per Action

The Cost Per Action (CPA) is commonly used by advertising networks and it refers to an advertising campaign that pays you when your website visitors click the advertiser’s banner, which links them to the advertiser’s site, and then conducts a specific process.

This process can be buying a product from the advertiser’s store, which is known as Cost Per Sale (CPS), or it can be completing a form to sign up for a service or information or completing a survey page, which is known as Cost Per Lead (CPL). Most affiliate marketing campaigns are based on this model: they only pay the website owner once visitors respond to the ad by buying a product or completing a form or survey.

If your website is new and does not have much potential traffic, you will not be able to generate good revenue from this type of ad. You first must build trust with website visitors in order for them to click links on your website and trust the products being advertised.

Fixed-Price Banners

The fixed-price banner model means the advertiser pays a fixed amount for placing their banners on your website for a period of time that is usually one month or more. In this case, the cost is paid in advance regardless of the number of clicks or impressions the banner receives.

The more clicks the banner receives, the greater the possibility that the advertisers renew their banner placements for additional months. The advertisers choose which websites to place their ads on based on a number of factors, such as the amount of traffic the website receives, the category of the website, and the impressions that each page receives.

The fixed-price model is one of the easiest advertising models because you do not need to join an advertising network to implement it; all you need to do is contact advertisers and invite them to advertise on your website. There are some networks, such as BuySellAds, that help you market your website banner zones and provide easy management platform for your banners.

Effective Cost Per Mille

While the Cost Per Mille (CPM) equals the display of a banner a thousand times to clients, the Effective Cost Per Mille (eCPM) refers to the action a user takes after clicking the banner. The eCPM is calculated by dividing the total earnings by the total number of impressions in thousands. For example, if an advertiser earns $3 from users’ actions, and the ad appears 1,000 times, the formula for calculating the eCPM is $3/1,000 *1,000 where 1,000 is constant, and the results of the Cost-Per-Click in this model is $3.
